You may have seen the news headlines over the weekend and again this morning concerning the estimated 6 million taxpayers that may have paid the wrong tax.
This is yet another example of both poor service, poor investement in IT systems and an over complex tax system.
The BBC have reported that 1.4 million taxpayers have underpaid on average £1,500 each. Having got it so wrong for the last 2 years how can you be certain that the current HMRC calculations are correct?
The only real way is to ask an expert but this can be expensive if using a high street accountant. Fortunately we already have an existing tax review service where for a small fee we can check that the calculation is in fact correct, if nothing else offering a certain amount of peace of mind.
